Ultrasonic waves
High-frequency ultrasonic waves are generated in the water inside the Sonade — 40,000 of them every second.
Cavitation (nano-bubbles)
This creates millions of nano-scale bubbles, called cavitation, which collapse and release energy — lifting plaque, film and debris off every surface of your appliance at once. Nothing physically touches it.
Sonobactericide
That same release of energy acts on bacterial cell membranes at the surface of the appliance — the effect known in ultrasonic cleaning as sonobactericide.
The UV-C finish
Three UV-C lights then run on the now-clean surface, which helps prevent bacteria and buildup as it's sitting in the water. UV-C travels in straight lines and cannot reach through cloudy water, which is exactly why it runs last rather than first.
